This 1 day course will take students through the process of forging steel into a quality knife through demonstration and hands-on experience with tools and equipment for forging.
At the end of the course, students will take home a knife that they make that day as they learn and practice the basic skills needed to make a quality knife:
- Using the Forge and forging metal
- Shaping and grinding the Knife into shape
- Heat treatment basics, polishing/finishing of forged knife
- Adding a handle to a forged knife
- Sharpening a forged knife
- Making a leather sheath for the knife
Class will be Saturday, August 23rd, starting at 9:00 a.m. Class will be 5 to 7 hours.
Class is for adults only
This is hands-on training, and you will be working around a forge with hot metals. Safety equipment and materials are provided; however, students MUST wear closed-toe, NOT CLOTH shoes. Leather shoes are preferred. Long pants are also required.
We need at least 3 students to have the class, so make sure you register soon!
Cost is $200 for Non-Members, $150 for Shak Members.
